Production Systems Lead (ShotGrid)

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia. The role works in a creative office environment, with company offices close to public transport in Parramatta and Melbourne CBD.

What you will do

• Gather, prioritize, and document production system requirements with production leadership.
• Design production data structures, workflows, pipeline steps, statuses, naming conventions, and permissions.
• Own ShotGrid schema and governance while partnering with Production Technology on implementation and integrations.
• Define production data standards, maintain the production data dictionary, and run data quality audits across shows.
• Set up and close out productions, build reporting for progress, throughput, capacity, and bid-versus-actual performance.
• Roll out workflows, train production teams, create role-based documentation, and resolve production system requests.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on animation production experience across 2D and 3D pipelines, with expert knowledge of at least one.
• Expert working knowledge of ShotGrid, including schema, pipeline steps, statuses, permissions, and show usage.
• Strong Google Sheets or Excel skills for modeling, reconciling, cleaning, and reporting production data.
• Ability to design relational data models, trace data issues to their source, and explain technical trade-offs clearly.
• Experience gathering requirements, writing specifications, rolling out workflows, and driving adoption through training and documentation.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, judgment, ownership, and independent problem-solving skills.

• Experience with Airtable or similar low-code database tools.
• Experience with Asana or similar task management tools.
• Experience in a fast-growing studio where systems and processes are still evolving.
• Interest in arts, animation, gaming, or internet culture.
