Chassis, Active Safety, Durability Technician (Automotive)

Location: Adelanto, California, USA; onsite work at testing facilities and proving grounds

What you will do

• Set up test parts, take digital photographs, perform micrometer measurements, conduct visual inspections, and label components.
• Perform vehicle maintenance and component retrofits, including work on brakes and suspension systems.
• Operate and monitor climatic chambers, salt water basins, mud pits, fatigue tracks, and other test facilities.
• Execute vehicle driving cycles on closed tracks and public roads, install sensors, and configure data acquisition equipment.
• Diagnose and repair defects, collect test data, record test maneuvers, and prepare information for test reports.
• Transport instrumented vehicles to proving-ground facilities and report progress to a Senior Technician or Test Engineer.

Requirements

• High school diploma; a two-year technical degree or prior trade experience is preferred.
• At least two years of experience in a testing environment and knowledge of vehicle component functions.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
• Experience with sensor installation, data acquisition, objective vehicle testing, computers, and Microsoft Office is preferred or beneficial.
• Valid California driver’s license and ability to drive a pickup truck and vehicle-trailer combination under Class C requirements.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, stand, walk on hills, kneel, sit for extended periods, lift 40 pounds, and work extended hours, weekends, and mandatory overtime when required.
