Supplier Quality Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid role based within commuting distance of Santa Clarita, California, with onsite and remote work; 20–30% ad hoc travel to customers, suppliers, and other division sites.

Salary: $83,800–$111,800 per year plus bonus.

What you will do

• Lead supplier program quality engineering for new parts, serial production, and localization projects.
• Conduct supplier evaluations, quality audits, source inspections, validations, and performance reviews.
• Investigate supplier defects and nonconformances, perform root-cause analysis, and drive 8D corrective actions.
• Manage supplier corrective action requests, customer SCARs, audit findings, and quality metrics.
• Work with Supply Chain, Operations, Contracts, Engineering, customers, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement flow-down requirements.
• Support internal audits and sustained compliance with aerospace quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering, or a technical equivalent, with at least 5 years of related experience; alternatively, a graduate degree with 3 years of experience or 8 years of relevant supplier quality experience without a degree.
• Experience auditing suppliers against AS9100, ISO 9001, company requirements, and customer flow-down requirements, preferably in aerospace.
• Practical expertise with quality tools including FMEA, APQP/PPAP, 8D RCCA, SPC, Lean, Six Sigma, control plans, and inspection processes.
• Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection, NetInspect, PCBA manufacturing documentation, configuration management, BOMs, and MRP systems such as SAP.
• Experience with customer-facing quality issues, remote multi-site teams, supplier corrective actions, and regulated manufacturing environments.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement near Santa Clarita and travel 20–30% for supplier, customer, and site visits.

Nice to have

• FAA 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 145 knowledge.
• AS9100 Lead or Internal Auditor certification, ASQ CMQ/OE, or ASQ CQE.
• Experience with DO-254, DO-178B, AS9006, CMMI, J-STD-001, IPC standards, or 5S audits.
