Staff Software Engineer (MacOS)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States. The role includes an in-person onboarding experience.

Salary: $194,000–$267,000 annual base salary for candidates in California excluding the San Francisco Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington; $174,000–$239,000 annual base salary for other listed locations. San Francisco Bay Area compensation is listed separately.

What you will do

• Translate strategic business objectives into scalable technical roadmaps with Product Management, Engineering Directors, and Principal Architects.
• Design, implement, and own macOS security and identity features and services from conception through deployment.
• Lead cross-functional delivery with Product, Design, and QA across critical engineering initiatives.
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers, guide technical design reviews, and raise engineering standards across multiple teams.
• Improve code quality, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, and architectural practices.
• Prototype innovations in device security and AI-native software development.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive software development experience.
• Proven experience designing and building macOS or iOS features with Swift.
• Deep knowledge of macOS or iOS environments, performance optimization, and security considerations.
• Advanced debugging and performance optimization using Xcode, LLDB, and Instruments, including memory and concurrency issue resolution.
• Experience with agile development, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Strong communication skills, technical leadership ability, AI coding assistant proficiency, and conceptual knowledge of macOS or iOS security features.

Nice to have

• Cryptography, endpoint security, Secure Enclave, device management or MDM, and endpoint detection experience.
• Knowledge of identity and access management technologies such as FIDO, OIDC, or OAuth.
• Cybersecurity principles, secure coding practices, CISSP, or Security+ certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
