TL;DR
Mechanical Integration and Test Engineer (Aerospace): Integrating and validating mechanical components and systems for spacecraft, rovers, and lunar infrastructure with an accent on test planning, tooling, documentation, and environmental testing. Focus on operating shaker tables and thermal vacuum chambers, processing test data, and solving complex integration challenges across propulsion, thermal, mechanisms, electrical, and structural teams.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States; relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates moving to Pittsburgh. Applicants must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations under ITAR and EAR regulations.

What you will do

  • Support design reviews from Design for Manufacturing and Assembly and Design for Test perspectives.
  • Develop test plans, assembly drawings, integration procedures, and test procedures with systems and design engineers.
  • Coordinate parts, fasteners, consumables, tooling, calibration, resources, and schedules for integration and test operations.
  • Design ground support equipment, fixtures, assembly aids, and other test tooling.
  • Lead integration and test readiness reviews and execute integration and test procedures.
  • Operate shaker tables and thermal vacuum chambers, support third-party test facilities, process test data, and write test reports.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience integrating or testing complex electromechanical or fluid systems.
  • Experience with technical writing, documentation, and planning.
  • Proficiency in CAD and lifecycle management tools; SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • U.S. Person status and eligibility for required export authorizations under ITAR and EAR are required.

Nice to have

  • M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with instrumentation, controls, data acquisition, and environmental testing.
  • Experience in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle industries.
  • Experience with safety, quality, ESD, FOD, cleanroom, or third-party test-house practices.
  • Experience with engineered lifting, mechanical shop work, 3D printing, milling, lathe operation, SolidWorks, VBA, Python, Arduino, Linux, LabView, Siemens TestLab, or LabJack.
