Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform

Location: Bellevue, Washington. The employee must be on US Soil, including the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or US outlying areas.

Salary: $165,000–$227,000 annual base salary for candidates in California excluding the San Francisco Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington; $147,000–$202,000 USD for another applicable range. Actual compensation depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. Equity and bonus may also apply.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and own data-intensive, high-performance, scalable platform components.
• Build, deploy, and optimize streaming infrastructure and foundational data services for analytics and machine learning.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and cross-functional partners on system design and implementation.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning.
• Coach and mentor engineers while helping scale the engineering organization.
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the technology stack.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and comfort with multiple backend languages, preferably Java, TypeScript, Ruby, Go, or Python.
• Experience with at least one of MySQL, Redis, or PostgreSQL.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and API design skills.
• Comfort working with geographically distributed teams, taking ownership, and delivering iteratively.
• Comfort with React or a similar frontend stack, or willingness to learn.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kinesis, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Beam, Snowflake, Hadoop, Kubernetes, or Mesos.
• Experience maintaining security, encryption, identity management, or authentication infrastructure.
• Experience using major public cloud providers for high-volume, mission-critical services.
• Experience developing large-scale data integration applications across batch and online systems.
• Experience with distributed systems such as Kafka or Hadoop in high-volume or critical environments.
