Senior Software Engineer, Java Backend

Location: Remote within the United States for candidates residing in CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, ME, MA, MD, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA. Hybrid work is available through physical offices in Austin, Texas, and Tampa, Florida. This role is not available within the city limits of Chicago.

Base salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, New Jersey, Washington, or New York.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable, high-availability software applications and platform improvements.
• Build backend signaling and session infrastructure for secure, low-latency remote connections to managed endpoints.
• Influence architecture decisions while balancing scalability, performance, maintainability, technical debt, and business needs.
• Own technical initiatives, address operational challenges, and drive improvements based on support data.
• Collaborate with C++ agent, UI, backend, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote quality assurance and technical standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of Java software development experience, particularly with product applications.
• 5+ years of experience building highly scalable systems and solving complex system design challenges.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and practices.
• Expertise in API design and RESTful services, including frameworks such as Spring.
• Proficiency in relational database design and development, with experience using caching systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
