Environment, People, and Place Intern

Location: Houston, TX, United States; the role is primarily in-office, with the description also referencing the Brooklyn, NY office location. Remote work may be available when needed, but regular office attendance is expected.

What you will do

• Support economic, fiscal impact, benefit-cost, market, and feasibility analyses for urban development, infrastructure, real estate, and climate-related projects.
• Conduct research on urbanization, transportation, energy, economic development, planning, and environmental issues.
• Contribute to urban design, zoning, land-use planning, and socio-economic policy studies.
• Perform environmental engineering analyses involving air, noise, soil, water, waste management, and environmental legislation.
• Support environmental design, baseline data collection, impact modeling, and assessment of potential effects.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and models related to air quality, noise, soil and groundwater contamination, and surface water.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in economics, urban planning, architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental studies, or environmental planning.
• Knowledge of urban planning, real estate, economics, land use, environmental policy, environmental science, or environmental engineering.
• Quantitative skills and experience with financial, real estate, economic, environmental, or climate-change modeling.
• Ability to research information from multiple sources and prepare clear submissions and reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; basic InDesign familiarity is beneficial.
