Senior Software Engineer (Video Streaming)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, or onsite/hybrid from San Francisco, New York City, Cambridge, or other listed U.S. locations.

Salary: $165,000–$250,000 annual salary depending on experience and location, plus stock options and benefits.

hirify.global builds a cloud-based television streaming service with live channels, on-demand content, DVR, multi-device playback, and advertising-supported video experiences.

What you will do

• Design, implement, deploy, and monitor the video ingest, transcoding, packaging, and delivery pipeline.
• Build scalable and resilient data pipelines for video and analytics events using distributed systems and microservices.
• Develop highly available RESTful services that support large volumes of simultaneous video streams.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, latency, security, video quality, and CDN delivery costs.
• Evaluate encoding technologies and collaborate with content, advertising, data science, and client engineering teams.
• Support streaming quality improvements across new hirify.global client platforms.

Requirements

• Must be eligible to work from within the United States for the remote arrangement.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Professional experience with Golang, Java, C++, or similar languages and deep knowledge of concurrent programming.
• Experience building concurrent, highly available, high-throughput RESTful services.
• Experience with cloud environments, Docker, Kubernetes, relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing, and querying.
• Ability to own complex architectural and development work through completion using Scrum or Agile methodologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Elemental, Azure Media Services, or FFmpeg.
• Knowledge of AAC, H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, AV1, VMAF, and SSIM.
• Experience with MPEG-DASH, HLS, MPEG TS, fMP4, CMAF, Zixi, SRT, OTT packaging, DRM, or SSAI.
• Experience mentoring and leading engineers.
