Senior Software Engineer (Go/GraphQL)

Salary: $139,680–$174,600 USD annual salary, plus bonus and equity

What you will do

• Build and evolve the federated GraphQL supergraph and Go subgraphs powering the Dashboard and public API.
• Design VPC architecture, service discovery, network connectivity standards, and service-to-service communication patterns.
• Decompose the legacy Python monolith into well-bounded services and operate the Cassandra data layer, including replication, backups, and disaster recovery.
• Design workflow orchestration using GCP Workflows, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, and customer-facing automation services.
• Define GraphQL, gRPC, and REST standards while providing technical guidance through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Own production systems through SLOs, observability, incident response, and on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Significant experience building and operating production services in Go within a polyglot codebase that includes Rust and Python.
• Experience designing scalable APIs with schema design, versioning, and backward compatibility considerations.
• Experience with high-traffic distributed systems and incrementally evolving legacy systems or extracting services from a monolith.
• Working knowledge of VPCs, DNS, load balancing, service-to-service authentication, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, and release engineering.
• Experience with a major cloud provider, production observability, live-site support, and on-call work.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with GraphQL Federation, federation gateways or routers, and schema registries.
• Experience with Rust, Cassandra, stateful datastores, multi-region replication, or migrations from end-of-life runtimes.
• Experience with private service networking, service meshes, GCP Workflows, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Cloud Build, AlloyDB, MySQL, Redis, Docker, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or Vault.
• Working knowledge of WordPress or Drupal.
