Senior Staff Engineer - Senior Data Modeler (Databricks)

What you will do

• Capture, validate, certify, and maintain business definitions, metrics, KPIs, and critical data elements.
• Map business terminology to tables, fields, reports, dashboards, KPIs, and other physical data assets across Finance, Commercial, HR, and Marketing.
• Facilitate definition workshops, gather business context, and resolve terminology conflicts with data stewards and domain owners.
• Improve Excel- and Python-based metadata intake processes and identify automation opportunities.
• Clean and validate metadata, upload approved definitions to Unity Catalog, and verify searchability and discoverability.
• Establish governance workflows and document intake, approval, certification, maintenance, and handover procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience.
• Experience in data stewardship and data governance.
• Experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog.
• Ability to work with business stakeholders, data stewards, and domain experts on standardized definitions.
• Strong skills in data validation, metadata management, documentation, and governance processes.

Nice to have

• Strong Python skills.
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience with the Azure Data Platform.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Office Suite.
