TL;DR
Freelance Data Engineer (Security) (Python/SQL, AI data infrastructure): Building secure data pipelines and document infrastructure for an AI-enabled event intelligence platform with an accent on data integration, governance, privacy, and searchable knowledge assets. Focus on designing structured and unstructured ingestion, implementing access controls and auditability, and enabling RAG, semantic indexing, and vector-based retrieval.
Location: Remote, United Kingdom
Contract: Freelance, with possible transition to permanent; duration from ASAP to April 27.

What you will do
- Build a structured data layer integrating CRM systems, Azure databases, event attendance systems, survey platforms, and financial warehouses.
- Create ingestion pipelines for presentations, Word documents, spreadsheets, and other unstructured project documentation.
- Develop AI-ready document infrastructure with classification, versioning, provenance, metadata, auditability, and permissions.
- Implement privacy and security controls covering access roles, consent tracking, retention, deletion, and confidentiality.
- Explain technical limitations, timelines, costs, and platform design implications to non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to platform roadmap planning and begin delivering the data spine during the first 90 days.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Python, SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, ETL or ELT, API integrations, and batch or event-driven pipelines.
- Experience with Azure or Snowflake data warehousing, modern data modeling, document ingestion, RAG, and unstructured-document pipelines.
- Knowledge of metadata extraction, OCR workflows, semantic indexing, vector databases, chunking strategies, document classification, and embedding pipelines.
- Experience with PII handling, GDPR implications, pseudonymization, data lineage, retention policies, audit logging, and access controls.
- Experience with Snowflake, AWS Cognito, AWS S3, AWS Lambda, and AWS DynamoDB.
Nice to have
- Snowflake-specific experience and AI-related security experience.
- LLM model-building experience.
- Knowledge of event and experiential marketing or project-based businesses.
