TL;DR
Scientist, Genetic Assays (mRNA): Developing and executing molecular and biochemical assays for clinical PK/PD analysis, including qPCR, ddPCR, RNA sequencing, MSD, ELISA and immunoblotting, with an accent on mRNA-based bioanalytical capabilities and regulatory-quality data. Focus on qualifying and validating assays, troubleshooting internal and CRO-generated data, and connecting translational science with clinical bioanalysis.

What you will do

  • Design and execute phase-appropriate biochemical and molecular biology assays supporting clinical PK/PD analysis.
  • Develop, qualify and validate assays for clinical use in accordance with GcLP requirements and program timelines.
  • Establish internal and external mRNA-based bioanalytical capabilities and support method development across the portfolio.
  • Review raw data, analytical reports and validation reports, maintaining scientific, regulatory and data-quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot assay and technical issues with internal laboratories and external CRO partners.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations and Sample Management on sample journeys, laboratory manuals, equipment qualification, SOPs and critical reagents.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in genetic assays or a related field such as infectious disease, immuno-oncology, immunology or cancer biology, plus at least 5 years of industry biotech or pharmaceutical experience; alternatively, a B.S. or M.S. with at least 7 years of bioanalytical and GcLP/GLP experience.
  • Expert knowledge of RT-PCR, ddPCR, RNA sequencing and other methodologies used in preclinical and clinical assays.
  • Experience with RNA, biologics and cell therapy is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of translational literature and the competitive landscape in the ASO field.
  • Knowledge of GcLP requirements, regulatory expectations and current industry trends in analytical science.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite at the Oxford, England site.

  • Experience with LIMS and electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Experience with laboratory automation.
  • Experience using digital and Generative AI-enabled tools for scientific workflows and data-driven work.
