Technical Consultant – Oracle DBA (Oracle)

Location: Remote; candidates may work anywhere in Canada or the US, with preference for PST timezone.

Salary: 75K–85K and 53K–61K.

What you will do

• Deploy, administer, patch, upgrade, monitor, and maintain Oracle 19c environments, including RAC, Grid Infrastructure, Clusterware, ASM, and Data Guard standby databases.
• Manage high availability, backup and recovery with RMAN, disaster recovery planning, validation, testing, and scheduled maintenance.
• Investigate performance issues involving SQL, locking, blocking, memory, resource contention, execution plans, AWR, ADDM, ASH, and wait events.
• Administer Oracle environments on RHEL and Oracle Linux, troubleshoot operating system, storage, networking, permissions, and resource issues, and maintain shell automation.
• Support multiple customer environments through incidents, service requests, change management, documentation, customer communication, and collaboration with application, infrastructure, cloud, and support teams.
• Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance and on-call support as required.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience deploying, administering, and supporting Oracle 19c databases, including Oracle RAC and Data Guard standby environments.
• Production experience managing Oracle RAC clusters and high-availability operations, plus hands-on Data Guard administration.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle Grid Infrastructure, Clusterware, ASM, RMAN backup and recovery, database patching, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Experience administering Oracle databases on RHEL and/or Oracle Linux, with working knowledge of both environments.
• Experience with database performance tuning, SQL optimization, execution-plan analysis, and Oracle diagnostic tools.
• Strong Linux troubleshooting skills and familiarity with shell scripting.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production incidents and performing root-cause analysis.
• Strong communication, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and own customer issues through resolution.
• Ability to assess production risk, investigate beyond symptoms, use diagnostic tools and responsible AI-assisted research, collaborate with colleagues and customers, and document continuous-improvement opportunities.

Nice to have

• Microsoft SQL Server, Azure or other cloud, Windows Server, virtualization, PowerShell, Azure CLI, or infrastructure automation experience.
• Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, SSL/TLS certificates, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Apache Tomcat, web application infrastructure, application troubleshooting, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, or identity and access management experience.
• Experience with monitoring tools, Jira, TeamSupport, or similar service management platforms.
• Oracle Database or relevant cloud certifications.
• Experience supporting ERP, CIS, or utility-industry applications and managed services or customer-facing production support.
