Location: New York area and Florida facilities; the role focuses on the US media landscape and includes New York-specific media relations as a preferred qualification.
Salary: $84,577.92–$141,121.23 annually. Actual salary depends on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs; bonuses, differential pay, and benefits are excluded.

What you will do
- Develop and execute earned and owned media strategies for Perlmutter Cancer Center and assigned clinical specialties.
- Create media materials, including stories, advisories, fact sheets, op-eds, key messages, and positioning statements.
- Build relationships with medical and science journalists, respond to media inquiries, and support spokesperson activities.
- Plan media strategies around academic conferences, press conferences, media roundtables, and high-profile announcements.
- Coordinate external PR agencies and cross-functional partners supporting cancer communications and media projects.
- Track media coverage, web traffic, editorial progress, and campaign outcomes to improve communications strategies.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of public and media relations experience, including proactive media pitching and issues management.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of clinical programs and experience with medical writing.
- Experience executing proactive and reactive public relations programs and managing press relationships.
- Experience with project management, PR agency coordination, event planning, digital content channels, and social media.
- Excellent writing, editing, verbal communication, decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- New York-specific media relations experience.
- Experience managing staff.
- Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills.
