Data Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: NYC office, on-site; paid relocation support is available for a move to NYC.

Salary: $240,000–$310,000 per year, plus equity and bonus.

An AI infrastructure platform for consumer packaged goods brands, unifying finance, accounting, sales, and operations data.

What you will do

• Manage and develop the data team, initially supporting a Senior Analytics Engineer.
• Set priorities, explain technical decisions, and coordinate work across Engineering, Product, Operations, and Customer teams.
• Own decisions on data warehouse design, pipelines, orchestration, and tooling.
• Hire, interview, onboard, and develop data engineers as the team grows.
• Define standards for data modeling, testing, documentation, monitoring, and on-call operations.
• Write SQL, build models, review pull requests, and resolve pipeline and data-quality issues.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering, including at least 2 years managing engineers.
• Experience building and maintaining a data warehouse from an early or disorganized state.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills, with production ETL/ELT pipeline experience.
• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Dagster, or similar tools.
• Experience hiring engineers and supporting their professional development.
• Ability to turn ambiguous reporting needs into a clear technical plan while splitting time between management and hands-on development.
