Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or New York, United States

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and maintain core data models and semantic layers.
• Develop and orchestrate batch and streaming data pipelines using Apache Beam, Kafka, Airflow, or similar frameworks.
• Analyze inference and infrastructure telemetry from OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and other observability tools.
• Define and maintain company-wide metrics covering product usage, performance, and customer lifecycle.
• Enable self-service analytics through agents, tools, and well-structured semantic layers.
• Improve data reliability and quality through testing, documentation, and governance.

Requirements

• Experience with data engineering, data modeling, pipelines, and analytics infrastructure.
• Understanding of inference metrics such as latency, throughput, token usage, and model performance.
• Experience supporting B2B SaaS or consumption-based platforms.
• Ability to collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, and Sales stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience applying forecasting and predictive modeling, such as ARIMA or Prophet, to business processes.
