Laboratory Assistant (Biotech)

Location: Onsite in Carlsbad, California, United States; part-time schedule of 2 days x 4 hours per week.

Salary: $18–$20 per hour, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Wash 1-liter polycarbonate/PPCO centrifuge bottles, caps, and related labware using approved detergents and validated procedures.
• Inspect labware for stress cracking, crazing, hazing, deformation, and damaged sealing surfaces before returning it to service.
• Tag and retire failed labware and report recurring failure patterns to the protein purification team.
• Rinse, dry, organize, and restock clean labware while keeping the wash area maintained.
• Maintain wash and inspection logs, autoclave labware, and record autoclave cycles.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Careful attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures exactly.
• Reliable attendance on a fixed weekly schedule.
• Ability to stand for up to 4 hours and lift, move, pull, and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work safely around laboratory detergents, solvents, and biological materials while using required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work onsite in the Carlsbad, California office.

Nice to have

• Experience in a laboratory washroom, cleanroom, sterile processing, GMP, or GLP environment.
• Familiarity with autoclaves, lab washers, or deionized water systems.
• Understanding of chemical compatibility for plastic labware.
