Senior Software Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, LATAM

Salary: $85,000–$98,000 annually for LATAM; UK and US compensation bands are also available.

Builds and manages open-source and commercial products for network automation, network observability, and network infrastructure management.

What you will do

• Act as the technical expert for a core Foundations area such as identity, authentication, or access control.
• Design and build backend services and shared platform primitives in collaboration with other engineering teams.
• Own complex components from design through production and break large projects into measurable milestones.
• Investigate difficult technical problems and identify technical debt and risks early.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and design reviews.
• Document technical decisions and align implementation with Product and engineering priorities.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience, including ownership of complex backend systems.
• Backend programming experience with Python or Go.
• Experience in platform engineering or building shared platform components.
• Strong Linux and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience breaking large projects into milestones and delivering them on time.
• Experience mentoring engineers and incorporating AI into development workflows or AI-enhanced tooling.

Nice to have

• Experience with authentication and authorization systems such as OAuth, SSO, or role-based access control.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Experience with network management or infrastructure software.
• Open-source contributions or project involvement.
