Senior Algorithm Engineer (Medical Imaging)

Location: Helsinki; primarily office-based with an expectation of working from the hirify.global office at least four days per week

What you will do

• Develop algorithms and software for complex medical imaging challenges in oncology, including image registration, segmentation, motion tracking, and image-based informatics.
• Design, build, and evaluate research prototypes for integration into hirify.global products and clinical workflows.
• Apply machine learning, deep learning, statistical methods, and numerical optimization to 2D, 3D, and 4D imaging problems.
• Develop high-performance software using Python, C++, CUDA, and related technologies.
• Collaborate with research scientists, software engineers, product stakeholders, external research institutions, healthcare organizations, and technology partners.
• Contribute to testing, validation, documentation, publications, presentations, and intellectual property activities.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of medical imaging, machine learning, and/or computer vision, preferably in healthcare, oncology, or another regulated environment.
• Strong Python and C++ development experience, including Visual Studio.
• Experience with scientific computing libraries such as ITK, VTK, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, and Matplotlib, plus PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
• Experience developing GPU-based image processing algorithms with CUDA and practical knowledge of image registration, segmentation, motion tracking, statistical modelling, numerical optimization, and matrix and tensor algebra.
• Experience developing imaging applications and either a relevant PhD with at least five years of relevant software development or research experience, or a relevant Master’s degree with at least ten years of experience.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems independently, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, and communicate scientific concepts clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with C#, .NET, OpenMP, OpenCL, or DICOM.
• Patent authorship or other intellectual property experience.
