Legal Counsel (Regulatory and Compliance)

What you will do

• Research product compliance, consumer protection, competition, trade, and other applicable laws.
• Provide regulatory and compliance advice, legal research, legal opinions, and guidance to the organisation.
• Support the implementation, monitoring, and testing of the regulatory and compliance programme.
• Draft and update compliance templates, policies, procedures, and related commercial contract provisions.
• Assist with dispute resolution, regulatory litigation, legal developments, and compliance reporting.
• Develop regulatory and compliance training and communications for employees.

Requirements

• LLB degree and admission as an attorney or advocate in South Africa.
• 1–3 years of post-admission experience at the bar, in an established law firm, or in the in-house legal department of a large corporation.
• Experience in regulatory and/or compliance law is essential.
• Good working knowledge of South African law.
• Strong drafting, communication, planning, organisational, prioritisation, and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulatory, e-commerce, retail, and/or litigation law.
