TL;DR
Data Protection Counsel (GDPR/ePrivacy): Ensuring data protection compliance for a regulated GameTech business with an accent on DPO responsibilities, privacy risk management, and contract review. Focus on conducting DPIAs and audits, developing policies and training, managing data incidents and subject requests, and supporting privacy compliance in new markets.
Location: Sliema, Malta; hybrid way of working

powers Betano and operates a GameTech business across 20 markets with more than 2,700 employees.
What you will do
- Advise departments on data protection, ePrivacy, GDPR, and privacy-related risks.
- Act as Data Protection Officer or primary privacy contact for designated entities and markets.
- Draft and negotiate data protection provisions in contracts with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct DPIAs, LIAs, and PIAs, and develop privacy policies, procedures, and processing records.
- Review third-party vendors, manage data breach incidents, and oversee data subject request processes.
- Deliver privacy training, audit compliance, report findings, and support expansion into new markets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- At least 3 years of experience in data protection, ideally including experience in online gambling or another highly regulated industry.
- Excellent command of English and the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-experts.
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR, ePrivacy, data protection audits, policy drafting, standard operating procedures, and DPIAs.
- Experience collaborating with legal and technology teams, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice to have
- CIPP/E, CIPM, or an equivalent data protection certification.
- Exposure to new technologies and AI.
