Senior Research Director (Geopolitics & Technology) (Geopolitics & Technology): Leading high-impact research and setting BCG’s thought leadership agenda on geopolitical forces, technology competition, security, and growth with an accent on strategic foresight, policy research, and executive influence. Focus on advising senior business and government leaders, building research programs and teams, and translating frontier research into client and firmwide strategic priorities.

What you will do
- Define and steward the BCG Institute’s global thought leadership agenda on geopolitics and technology.
- Lead high-impact research across trade and industrial policy, defense and security, economic competitiveness, AI and advanced technologies, cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, and the geopolitics of innovation.
- Write and sponsor flagship publications for leading business, policy, and academic outlets.
- Advise BCG leadership, case teams, C-suite executives, senior policymakers, and global institutions on geopolitical strategy, technology competition, and risk.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of researchers and fellows.
- Develop partnerships with universities, think tanks, innovation ecosystems, and policy networks.
Requirements
- PhD in Political Science, International Affairs, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Deep original expertise in geopolitics and the impact of technology.
- At least 10 major publications, including books, book contributions, or articles, over the past 10 years.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in geopolitics, technology policy, international relations, strategic consulting, or senior public-sector leadership.
- Experience building and scaling major research programs, policy initiatives, or institutions with measurable influence.
- Demonstrated ability to advise senior executives and policymakers and operate credibly across business, government, and academia.

- Experience shaping or implementing national or international policy frameworks related to technology, energy, security, or economic competitiveness.
- Established public engagement and agenda-setting impact in geopolitics and technology.
