TL;DR
2027 Summer Intern, Energy Markets and Policy (Energy and Climate Planning): Developing quantitative analyses, proprietary models, databases, and policy research for energy and environmental markets with an accent on energy economics, regulation, renewable energy, and climate planning. Focus on evaluating regulatory impacts, enhancing analytical models, synthesizing research, and communicating findings to corporate and government clients.

Location: Hybrid work from the Reston, VA or Arlington, VA offices; U.S. citizenship is required. This is a full-time, 10-week internship beginning in early June 2027. Relocation and housing assistance are not provided.

Salary: $37,855–$77,869 per year based on full-time employment.

What you will do

  • Perform quantitative and economic analysis of energy and environmental markets.
  • Develop and enhance proprietary models and databases.
  • Evaluate future regulations and support client strategies for managing change.
  • Prepare analysis and deliverables for corporate and government clients.
  • Develop research synthesis reports, industry benchmarks, quantitative analyses, and policy summaries.
  • Support market research, business development, marketing content, and thought leadership.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required for federal contracts.
  • At least 30 completed college-level credit hours by the start date in energy, policy, climate, economics, mathematics, business, operations research, engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate them to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. energy markets, policies, and technology.

Nice to have

  • Graduate-level coursework or enrollment verification in a related field.
  • Completed bachelor's degree.
  • Interest in energy economics, energy finance, climate, greenhouse gas accounting, operations research, or energy policy analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of R, Python, or other coding languages.
