Staff Software Engineer (Architecture, AI)

Location: Hybrid in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with at least 3 days per week in the office

What you will do

• Provide architectural leadership across multiple engineering domains and product pods.
• Lead modularization and platform decoupling initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve team ownership.
• Design secure, resilient, performant cloud-native services and guide platform modernization on Azure or AWS.
• Partner with engineering, product, clinical, and compliance stakeholders to align architecture with business and regulatory needs.
• Mentor engineers, conduct deep technical reviews, and promote code quality, testability, and design standards.
• Lead discovery and prototyping for complex integrations and data flows involving Salesforce, FHIR, HL7, Kafka, and other external systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years in a senior, staff, or principal-level role.
• Experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native services with .NET Core, C#, and React or Angular.
• Strong knowledge of domain-driven design, microservices, event-driven architecture, Apache Kafka or comparable messaging platforms, and saga patterns.
• Hands-on Azure or AWS architecture experience, including serverless functions, messaging queues, managed databases, and infrastructure as code with Terraform or Bicep.
• Experience with CRM integrations, CI/CD, observability, DevSecOps, secrets management, and communicating complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, financial services, government, insurance, banking, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience applying FHIR, HL7, or X12 standards in healthcare systems.
• Familiarity with cross-cloud or hybrid-cloud architecture patterns.
