Energy and Climate Researcher

Location: Arlington, VA or New York, NY. Hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of two days per week in the office; remaining days may be remote or in the office.

Salary: $66,000 for candidates with 0–1 years of experience, plus a $2,500 signing bonus. Full-time pay range: $60,967–$103,643.

What you will do

• Support energy and economic analyses, procurement and planning, and regulatory and policy projects.
• Conduct research, data analysis, technical reviews, and quantitative modeling.
• Contribute to greenhouse gas accounting, climate risk and resilience, and sustainability performance management.
• Manage and analyze large datasets using statistical methods, data visualization, and modeling tools.
• Write reports and create presentations that translate quantitative findings into clear narratives.
• Support client and community engagement and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Entry-level profile with 0–1 years of experience and availability to start in Fall 2026.
• Completed Bachelor’s degree by the start date in environmental data science, environmental or energy engineering, economics, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, environmental sciences, environmental policy, operations research, or a related field.
• Ability to perform quantitative analyses and work with large datasets.
• Strong writing, organization, attention to detail, and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to interpret and present technical and analytical information.
• Ability to work from Arlington, VA or New York, NY under a hybrid arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience or interest in energy markets, economics, climate resilience, sustainability, clean energy, or decarbonization.
• Experience with Python, Microsoft Excel, R, GIS, Word, PowerPoint, Canva, or related tools.
• Knowledge of energy and environmental policies, regulations, infrastructure, or industry-standard methods.
• Experience with client or community engagement and communicating complex topics.
• Ability to use AI tools such as CoPilot or ChatGPT for research and task efficiency.
