2027 Summer Intern, Software Developer (Reston, VA)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States of America. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. The 10-week full-time internship runs from June through August; housing and relocation assistance are not provided.

Pay range: $37,855.00–$64,354.00 per year based on full-time employment.

What you will do

• Assist with designing, configuring, developing, testing, and deploying enterprise software applications and technology solutions.
• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Support workflows, automations, user experiences, business rules, integrations, APIs, enterprise data, cloud services, and application features.
• Use low-code platforms, configuration tools, and traditional coding practices, with possible exposure to Salesforce, ServiceNow, Appian, and other enterprise platforms.
• Assist with quality assurance, troubleshooting, defect resolution, technical documentation, and project deliverables.
• Participate in Agile planning, user-story development, sprint ceremonies, collaboration, and software development best practices for security, accessibility, performance, maintainability, and user experience.

Requirements

• By the start date, at least 15 completed college-level credit hours are required.
• Authorization to work in the United States is required due to federal contract requirements.

Nice to have

• Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• Interest in software development, application development, process automation, cloud technologies, data solutions, or artificial intelligence.
• Exposure to programming concepts through coursework, academic projects, internships, personal projects, hackathons, or similar experience.
• Familiarity with Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML/CSS, or related technologies.
• Exposure to Salesforce, ServiceNow, Appian, Microsoft Power Platform, or similar low-code and enterprise application platforms.
• Familiarity with APIs, integrations, data management concepts, or cloud platforms.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
• Exposure to Git, GitHub, Jira, or Confluence.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, written communication, verbal communication, and collaboration skills.
• Curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn new technologies.
