Design Release Engineer, Body Closures (Automotive)

Location: Troy, Michigan, USA; onsite at 2716 Daley Dr with 20% travel required

What you will do

• Design and develop vehicle body closures and related assemblies, including doors, hoods, liftgates, and mechanisms.
• Own components from concept through production and launch while meeting technical, cost, mass, quality, and timing targets.
• Define and execute functional objectives for exterior components, manufacturability, production readiness, durability, crash performance, and NVH.
• Use Catia V5, Teamcenter, DFMEA, master sections, DFM, DFA, and DFS in the development process.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers, including technical reviews and capability validations.
• Support design reviews, issue resolution, continuous improvement, and compliance with NHTSA and FMVSS regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Computer, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent foreign degrees are accepted.
• Five years of experience as an Application Engineer, Design Engineer, Product Engineering Manager, Project Engineer, Senior Engineer, System Engineer, or in a related role.
• At least one year of experience using Catia V5, Teamcenter, DFMEA, BIW and closure systems, concepts and feasibility, and master sections.
• Experience with DFM, DFA, DFS, durability, crash and NVH targets, supplier technical reviews, and capability validations.
• Ability to travel 20% and work onsite in Troy, Michigan.
