Lead Drupal Architect/Developer

Location: Remote, United States; U.S. citizenship required

Salary: $135,000–$165,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Design and implement a secure, scalable, high-availability Drupal 11 CMS for a public-facing federal agency website.
• Configure content types, taxonomies, workflows, permissions, moderation, publishing, and editorial features.
• Develop custom Drupal modules, services, plugins, event subscribers, APIs, and integrations.
• Deploy and operate Drupal in AWS GovCloud with PostgreSQL or other managed databases, object storage, caching, search, CDN, and external services.
• Establish deployment, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, backup, recovery, performance, and disaster-recovery practices.
• Support security assessments, vulnerability remediation, ATO documentation, production support, technical documentation, and developer mentoring.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust clearance.
• Seven or more years of Drupal development experience, including architecture and production deployments.
• Experience with Drupal 9, 10, or 11, PHP, Symfony, Composer, Twig, Drupal APIs, configuration management, and custom module development.
• Experience with decoupled or headless Drupal, React, Next.js, JSON:API, GraphQL, AWS managed databases, containers, automated pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with Drupal security, dependency management, access control, vulnerability remediation, automated testing, code review, version control, and CI/CD.
• Ability to produce technical documentation and communicate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with federal agencies, government contractors, FedRAMP environments, or ATO activities.
• Experience with Section 508, WCAG, AWS GovCloud, or other regulated cloud environments.
• Experience integrating Drupal with Amazon Bedrock and AI-enabled chatbot or search functionality.
• Experience with ECS/Fargate, Aurora or PostgreSQL, S3, CloudFront, ElastiCache, OpenSearch, WAF, and Secrets Manager.
• Acquia, Drupal, or relevant professional certifications.
