TL;DR
Principal Machine Learning Engineer (AI): Architecting and developing end-to-end AI solutions based on LLMs, RAG, agentic systems, and cloud-scale infrastructure with an accent on AI architecture, predictive modeling, and production readiness. Focus on designing new agentic RAG systems, making complex architectural decisions, evaluating emerging frameworks, and integrating MLOps with microservices and cloud computing.
Location: Remote to start, then hybrid in Raleigh, NC; relocation to the United States is required.

What you will do
- Architect, develop, and advise on end-to-end AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, agentic systems, and cloud-scale infrastructure.
- Design and implement a new agentic RAG-based system while owning significant architectural and technical decisions.
- Construct, study, and train algorithms for complex, high-dimensional data, predictive modeling, NLP, and machine perception.
- Develop proofs of concept and evaluate emerging AI frameworks and tools.
- Guide AI system design and technical best practices in collaboration with architects and data science teams.
- Ensure end-to-end production readiness and alignment between AI architecture, business goals, and technical requirements.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in machine learning or AI engineering.
- Deep expertise in LLMs, RAG, agentic systems, Model Context Protocol, and vector databases.
- Strong Python development, AI architecture, data engineering, MLOps, and software engineering skills.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as microservices architecture and cloud computing.
- Demonstrated ownership of architectural and technical decisions while designing and implementing a new agentic RAG-based system.
- Ability to relocate to Raleigh, NC, as the role becomes hybrid after the initial remote period.
Nice to have
- Experience with Go.
- Experience with unstructured data and document-heavy domains.
- Experience technically leading or mentoring less senior data scientists and engineers.
