Software Engineer (Java Platform)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Berlin office, Germany

What you will do

• Build and maintain core Java libraries and JVM infrastructure supporting the data cloud platform.
• Develop systems that make Java safer, more efficient, and more secure.
• Identify performance and availability issues and implement effective solutions.
• Instrument key components and improve infrastructure monitoring and automation.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams on large-scale data infrastructure challenges.

Requirements

• Experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting complex Java systems.
• Strong understanding of Java fundamentals, the JVM, and core libraries.
• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Interest in JVM internals and performance tuning.
• Collaborative approach and a BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• English is the official language of the Berlin office.

Nice to have

• Experience with multithreading, concurrency, and caching.
• Knowledge of database or Linux internals.
• Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
