Settlement Accountant (Personal Injury Law)

Location: Fully remote; preferred location is Latin America, with Lima, Peru specified. Working hours: 9 AM–5 PM EST. U.S. federal holidays apply.

Salary: USD $1,000–$1,400 per month

What you will do

• Manage settlement files from settlement through final client disbursement.
• Prepare closing statements, settlement documents, wire templates, and payment records.
• Verify liens, payoffs, referral sources, case documentation, settlement checks, and client disbursement amounts.
• Send lien verification requests, track lien information, resolve duplicate entries, and follow up on liens requiring negotiation.
• Maintain bookkeeping records, review and process invoices and payments, and resolve disputed charges.
• Reconcile bank and operating accounts and track staff expenses and reimbursements.

Requirements

• 1–3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial coordination experience.
• Strong understanding of financial records, reconciliations, invoices, and disbursements.
• Advanced or strong Excel skills and comfort with cloud-based tools.
• Strong written English and professional communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, numerical accuracy, organization, follow-up, and time management.
• Ability to work fully remotely during 9 AM–5 PM EST and meet consistent deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with legal settlements, liens, medical payoffs, or personal injury law firms.
• Experience with Claude or similar AI-assisted tools.
