AI Robotics Engineer

Location: Aachen, Germany; onsite work with real robot hardware is required

What you will do

• Develop cognitive robotics applications using Physical AI and the NeuraGym platform.
• Execute the full model-development pipeline, including teleoperation, data annotation, training, simulation, deployment, and validation.
• Define data strategies and manage post-training through hyperparameter iteration, data mixture design, LoRA, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to build and optimize AI-powered robotic systems.
• Support NeuraGym users by reviewing pipelines, identifying data-quality issues, troubleshooting model behavior, and resolving technical blockers.
• Connect Cloud and AI teams and convert customer feedback into product and research roadmap improvements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on machine-learning experience in robotics, with strength in vision-based manipulation, reinforcement or imitation learning, or multimodal models.
• Experience fine-tuning pretrained models, including PEFT/LoRA, full fine-tuning, dataset curation, distillation, and evaluation.
• Strong Python skills and practical experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow; C++ is an advantage.
• Experience working with real robot hardware and associated middleware.
• Good command of English and German at B2–C1 level.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the VLA and policy-learning ecosystem, including π0/π0.5, OpenVLA, LeRobot, and diffusion policies.
• Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with robotic simulation tools such as IsaacSim or MuJoCo.
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
