Safety Test and Validation Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Plan and track component, subsystem, sled, and full-vehicle safety testing activities.
• Develop crash test requests and coordinate test and instrumentation requirements with vehicle integration teams.
• Interface with external testing facilities and support test delivery in the US and EU.
• Coordinate test vehicle preparation, teardown, and rebuild.
• Analyze post-test data, verify data integrity with laboratories, and report results to engineering teams.
• Track safety performance issues in Jira.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive development and testing.
• Detailed knowledge of FMVSS and other legal and consumer safety protocols.
• Hands-on experience with passive safety test planning, test vehicle setup, and test execution.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, including hardware planning, timing plans, and process definition.
• Experience with 3D design and PLM tools; CATIA 3DX or CATIA V5 preferred.

Nice to have

• CAN network experience, including data interrogation with CANALYZER.
• Familiarity with accelerometers, load cells, strain gauges, and data acquisition equipment.
• Experience defining operational workflows in testing environments.
• Knowledge of Polarion or equivalent requirements management tools.
• Experience building scripts or templates for data integrity checks and results analysis using MetaPost, Hypergraph, Python, or similar tools; DFMEA knowledge.
