Senior Simulation and HIL Integration Engineer (Autonomy)

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days a week. Required domestic travel is less than 10%. Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $112,710–$183,140 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, validate, and deploy machine models in Hardware-in-the-Loop platforms for autonomous-system validation.
• Configure and support dSPACE real-time simulation and HIL platforms, and integrate MATLAB/Simulink control models.
• Develop virtual validation environments with NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, and Isaac Lab, including sensor and LiDAR simulation.
• Deliver real-time-capable simulation models, integration interfaces, representative test scenarios, and automated verification tools.
• Analyze CAN, J1939, LIN, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networks and use CAN-based measurement, calibration, and data acquisition tools.
• Collaborate with autonomy, software, HIL, and simulation engineers to define validation strategies, troubleshoot results, improve simulation fidelity, and document best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of decision-making and critical-thinking methods, effective communication, software development, and software development life cycle practices.
• Knowledge of software integration engineering, including designing, developing, and maintaining interfaces between platforms and software packages.
• Knowledge of software product design, architecture, technical integration, and software testing strategies.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• 5+ years of experience developing HIL systems or real-time simulation environments.
• Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, dSPACE, and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience integrating embedded controllers and real-time systems.
• Working knowledge of CAN, J1939, LIN, Ethernet, and TCP/IP communications.
• Experience with Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, or similar CAN-based tools.
• Programming experience with Python, C++, or C.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with off-highway construction or mining equipment, automotive systems, autonomous vehicles, robotics, industrial automation, advanced controls, or embedded systems.
• Experience with AI and machine learning.
