Principal AI and Data Sciences (MedTech)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; Raritan, New Jersey, United States. Additional travel of up to 25% may be required.

Base pay: $117,000–$201,250 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end machine learning solutions on Databricks using structured and unstructured data.
• Build ETL/ELT pipelines and perform feature engineering with Spark, PySpark, and Delta Lake.
• Develop, train, validate, and optimize regression, classification, time-series, NLP, and computer vision models.
• Define evaluation strategies, regression test suites, model risk reports, and validation artifacts for regulated product development.
• Package, version, deploy, and monitor models using MLflow, CI/CD, alerting, and drift monitoring.
• Integrate structured and unstructured AI models through agentic frameworks and APIs, troubleshoot production issues, and implement traceable fixes.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of professional AI/ML or data science engineering experience in MedTech or a closely related regulated healthcare environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, MLflow, Python, PySpark, and common machine learning libraries.
• Experience building and evaluating prediction models for tabular, text, image, and signal data.
• Experience with model and pipeline regression testing, validation, cross-validation, hyperparameter tuning, and overfitting mitigation.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT, SQL, data partitioning, feature stores, cloud services, Git, CI/CD, Docker, and model lifecycle management.
• Understanding of MedTech regulatory requirements, verification and validation documentation, traceability, HIPAA, and secure clinical data handling.

Nice to have

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with time-series forecasting, React, JavaScript, SQL Server, and commercial or medical device deployments.
• Experience monitoring data drift, concept drift, and post-deployment performance degradation.
• Understanding of GxP processes, integrations, ERP, and middleware technologies.
