Segment Producer (NewsNation Prime)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite at the Chicago office

Salary: $65,000–$75,000 annually

NewsNation is a national news network producing broadcast coverage, breaking news, investigations, and in-depth conversations.

What you will do

• Pitch stories, guest ideas, and segments daily for the weekend primetime newscast.
• Write, organize, and produce scripts for guest, show, and interview segments.
• Gather visual elements and request dynamic graphics and video packages.
• Monitor current news and source people, images, and sound editorial information across social and news platforms.
• Identify reliable guests and witnesses quickly during breaking news situations.
• Collaborate with show producers, on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital, and engineering staff.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in national or major-market news.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism or a related field.
• Strong news judgment, editorial sensibility, and broadcast newswriting skills.
• Ability to create dynamic graphic and video elements and work effectively with diverse colleagues.
• Ability to work under stress, meet short deadlines, and use a computer for extended periods.
• Availability for assigned shifts and on-call coverage during overnights, mornings, weekends, and holidays.
