Sr. Software Engineering Functional Lead (AI)

What you will do

• Lead and coordinate a team of avionics software engineers while contributing individual technical work to development programs.
• Own technical execution and the quality of software deliverables for surveillance development projects.
• Partner with Product Owners, Project Leads, Systems Engineering, and program management to manage priorities, dependencies, commitments, and integration.
• Coordinate with offshore engineers and partner suppliers across planning, design, manufacturing, and testing activities.
• Track delivery metrics, communicate risks, remove impediments, and drive predictable execution aligned with program milestones.
• Introduce AI and automation tools into software engineering processes while maintaining measurable quality, compliance, and cycle-time improvements.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• At least 6 years of experience developing real-time embedded software.
• At least 2 years of experience leading a technical team and managing engineering execution.
• Knowledge of commercial aviation engineering design standards and strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Experience with DO-178 development is highly desired; C programming experience is beneficial.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time operating systems such as Green Hills, VxWorks, or CentOS.
• Experience with C++, Python, Visual Basic, Pascal, Linux, Git, Bitbucket, ClearCase, Subversion, ClearQuest, or DOORS.
• Experience with Agile software development, DevOps, continuous integration, continuous testing, and Jenkins.
• Experience with emerging AI tools, prompt engineering, and introducing AI into safety-critical software environments.
• Experience managing software engineers with a servant-leadership mindset.
