Mission Operations Specialist (Defense)

Location: Remote, based out of Fort Carson, United States. The role is field-oriented and requires domestic travel of up to 30% plus occasional international travel.

Base salary: $75,000–$110,000 per year.

What you will do

• Install hardware, sensors, networking equipment, and cabling on military and commercial platforms.
• Configure and update software applications, Windows/Linux operating systems, and system images.
• Perform startup procedures, operational verification tests, and readiness checks.
• Deploy to customer sites and support integration, upgrades, and preventative maintenance alongside Mission Deployment Engineers.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and installation issues, escalating complex problems when needed.
• Document installations, equipment configurations, and test results while maintaining deployment kits and tools.

Requirements

• 1–4 years of experience supporting technical equipment, field installations, electronics, networking, IT systems, or related hands-on technologies.
• Proficiency with hand tools, basic electronic test equipment, Windows, and Ethernet/IP communications.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, ability to read technical procedures, and hands-on experience with troubleshooting, hardware assembly, software installation, and system testing.
• Ability to work in industrial, maritime, rail, or military environments and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Active U.S. security clearance or the ability and willingness to obtain one is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with military land-based transport vehicles and communication systems.
• Military technical experience in electronics, communications, aviation, maritime, maintenance, IT, or defense.
• Experience supporting DoD, aerospace, maritime, rail, or industrial customers.
• Familiarity with Linux, multimeters, logic analyzers, wiring diagrams, installation drawings, ruggedized computers, sensors, or networking equipment.
