Senior Manager, Payroll and People Operations (AI)

What you will do

• Lead accurate, timely semi-monthly payroll for U.S. and Canadian entities and biweekly payroll for Quebec, including bonuses, commissions, filings, tax registrations, budgeting, controls, and audits.
• Maintain the ability to personally execute a complete payroll cycle and manage relationships with ADP and Rippling.
• Own health, retirement, benefits, open enrollment, and leave programs across U.S. and Canadian entities, including complex cases and regulatory compliance.
• Administer BambooHR, maintain HR data integrity, improve workflows, and ensure People & Culture policies are documented and audit-ready.
• Manage compensation frameworks, pay bands, benchmarking, annual compensation cycles, pay equity, and pay transparency practices.
• Lead, coach, and develop the payroll and People & Culture operations team while partnering with Finance, HR Business Partners, IT, and the CHRO.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred; PLP or CPP designation or progress toward one.
• 10+ years of progressive payroll, benefits, and HR operations experience across multiple U.S. and Canadian entities; Quebec payroll experience is a strong asset.
• 3–5 years of demonstrated people leadership experience and the ability to operate as both a player and a coach.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll, tax, benefits, pay equity, and pay transparency requirements.
• Experience administering an HRIS such as BambooHR, managing vendors and projects, and handling confidential employee information.
• Daily hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude or Copilot for research, drafting, analysis, and problem-solving.
