Postdoc in AI for Biomedicine (AI)

Location: Milan, Italy; the position is based on an international campus

What you will do

• Develop AI and computational methods for single-cell, spatial, imaging, and multimodal molecular data.
• Build models representing cellular states, tissue organization, and biological programs.
• Connect computational representations to mechanisms of human disease.
• Integrate population-scale human genetics with molecular and clinical datasets.
• Lead methodological innovation and drive biological discoveries through interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Develop an internationally recognized research profile through publications and conferences.

Requirements

• PhD in machine learning, artificial intelligence, computational biology, computer science, bioinformatics, or a related quantitative discipline, completed or expected within six months.
• Strong publication record in machine learning, computational biology, or biomedicine.
• Excellent programming skills in Python and experience analysing large-scale biological or biomedical datasets.
• Strong knowledge of modern machine learning, AI, omics, and high-dimensional biological data analysis.
• Strong analytical thinking, scientific curiosity, communication, and scientific writing skills.
• Ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment.

Nice to have

• Experience developing deep learning models for multimodal biomedical data.
• Experience with imaging, single-cell data, spatial transcriptomics, electronic health records, or other large-scale biomedical datasets.
• Experience with PyTorch, JAX, and large-scale computing environments.
• Familiarity with human genetics.
