Finance Engineer (AI)

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 per year for candidates in the U.S.

What you will do

• Build and maintain cost-to-serve, gross margin, contribution, and unit economics models by product, customer, and workload.
• Own technology budgeting, including cloud, GPU/TPU, vendor, and capacity spend forecasting.
• Develop finance dashboards and budget-versus-actuals automation for burn, runway, margin, and company KPIs.
• Build deal desk workflows for pricing guardrails, quote and order-form generation, and escalation routing.
• Automate sales compensation using CRM and billing data, including statements, accelerators, and dispute workflows.
• Develop finance agents, internal tools, and data pipelines connecting billing, payroll, cloud, and accounting systems to a modeled warehouse.

Requirements

• Strong data engineering fundamentals with SQL, Python, warehouse modeling, and orchestration tools such as dbt or Airflow.
• Experience working with financial or operational data, including revenue, cost, billing, payroll, or cloud spend.
• Ability to model revenue, cost, and margin structures and investigate discrepancies back to their source.
• Track record of building internal tools, dashboards, or automations used daily by non-engineering stakeholders.
• Familiarity with LLM-based agent workflows and applying them to operational processes.
• Strong communication skills for explaining financial metrics and limitations to finance and engineering leaders.

Nice to have

• Finance, accounting, FP&A, analytics, or usage-based and API unit economics experience.
• Experience with accounting, billing, or ERP APIs such as NetSuite or Stripe.
• Revenue operations experience with CRM or CPQ data, sales compensation tools, or deal desks.
