Senior Database Administrator (ClickHouse)

What you will do

• Own the reliability and performance of production ClickHouse clusters running on Kubernetes and managed ClickHouse services.
• Design standard architecture and tooling for dozens of multi-node database clusters.
• Manage provisioning, configuration, scaling, upgrades, migrations, backups, and disaster recovery as code.
• Build monitoring and alerting, plan capacity, control infrastructure costs, and maintain secure-by-default clusters.
• Support developers, DevOps engineers, DBAs, and leadership with schema design, data ingestion, query performance, and routine database operations.
• Respond to production incidents, lead database-side root-cause analysis, and maintain documentation and runbooks.

Requirements

• Deep production experience with ClickHouse, including storage, merges, replication, querying, SQL optimization, and schema design.
• Experience designing automation for large database fleets and operating stateful workloads on Kubernetes in production.
• Production experience with a Kubernetes database operator and hands-on knowledge of upgrades, backup and restore, and large-scale data migrations.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across queries, schemas, Kubernetes, Linux, storage, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with observability, database security, infrastructure as code, and at least one programming or scripting language.
• Clear written and spoken communication with engineers and leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience contributing to the source code of a Kubernetes database operator.
• Practical use of AI tools for database observability or operational automation.
• Experience in highly regulated environments.
• Kubernetes or cloud certifications.
