Senior Database Administrator (ClickHouse)

Location: Remote, Kazakhstan; fully remote. Relocation support is available to hubs in Armenia, Georgia, Serbia, Portugal, Poland, and Spain.

What you will do

• Own the reliability and performance of production ClickHouse clusters on Kubernetes and managed ClickHouse services.
• Design architecture and tooling for dozens of multi-node clusters and manage their lifecycle as code.
• Build monitoring, alerting, backup, disaster recovery, and restore-testing practices.
• Maintain secure-by-default database infrastructure, plan capacity, and control costs.
• Support developers, DevOps engineers, DBAs, and leadership with schema design, ingestion, and query-performance guidance.
• Handle database requests and production incidents, automate routine operations, and lead database-side root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• Deep production experience with ClickHouse, including storage, merging, replication, querying, SQL optimization, and schema design.
• Experience designing automation for large database fleets and managing stateful workloads on Kubernetes in production.
• Production experience with a Kubernetes database operator and hands-on cloud infrastructure experience.
• Experience with upgrades, backup and restore, and large-dataset migrations between clusters or regions with minimal downtime.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across queries, schemas, Kubernetes, Linux, storage, and networking.
• Experience with observability, database security, infrastructure as code, and programming or scripting for automation.

Nice to have

• Contributions to the source code of a Kubernetes database operator.
• Practical use of AI tools for database observability or operational automation.
• Experience in highly regulated environments.
• Kubernetes or cloud certifications.
