TL;DR
Head of Finance - Capital, Property & Formats (Commercial Finance/Retail and Hospitality): Leading capital allocation, property asset performance, supply chain finance, and strategic investment evaluation across a large retail and hospitality portfolio with an accent on long-range planning, business case governance, and commercial due diligence. Focus on deploying a ~$0.5b capital program, optimizing major cost bases, evaluating M&A and property transactions, and developing high-performing finance teams.

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia; hybrid ways of working are offered.

What you will do

  • Lead long-range financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management across capital, property, and supply chain portfolios.
  • Own the group-wide capital allocation and prioritization framework, including business cases, investment charters, risk appetites, and post-implementation benefits tracking.
  • Evaluate retail openings and closures, hotel acquisitions, developments, sale-and-leaseback transactions, and other strategic investments.
  • Optimize facilities management and supply chain cost bases while improving fulfillment and delivery economics with eCommerce and partner networks.
  • Support financial due diligence for M&A opportunities from evaluation through transaction completion.
  • Lead, coach, and develop teams across capital, property, and supply chain finance.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience with extensive commercial finance leadership experience.
  • Formal accounting qualification such as CA or CPA.
  • Experience partnering with senior executives to shape strategy and deliver financial outcomes.
  • Expertise in capital allocation, business case development, scenario modeling, and benefits tracking for complex programs.
  • Experience evaluating M&A proposals and significant strategic investments.
  • Proven ability to develop high-performing, collaborative teams in complex matrix environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience in retail, FMCG, supply chain, or property.
  • Experience with digital and technology transformation programs.
  • Corporate finance or M&A background.
