Software Engineer (AI Voice Agents)

Location: On-site in Mountain View, California; requires working in the office five days a week

Salary: $130,000–$180,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Build Python backend services for real-time voice agents, including call orchestration, conversation state, tool execution, and EHR write-back.
• Develop low-latency pipelines connecting telephony, automatic speech recognition, large language models, and text-to-speech.
• Integrate with healthcare systems such as Epic, Cerner, and athena for scheduling, eligibility, and patient intake.
• Design APIs, data models, and event-driven workflows with senior engineers.
• Partner with AI, product, and operations teams to deliver features for patient access teams.
• Own latency, reliability, observability, testing, and release readiness.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of backend software engineering experience, primarily with Python.
• Experience shipping production services, APIs, and data models.
• Understanding of how people interact with automated voice and text assistants.
• Comfort with asynchronous, event-driven, or real-time systems, or the ability to grow into these areas.
• Strong fundamentals in testing, LLM evaluation, observability, and reliability.
• Patient-centered approach, bias for action, and ownership mindset.
