Linux Software Developer

Location: Washington, D.C.; must be local to the work location. Flexible for occasional telework.

Salary: $102,965.83–$178,205.19 annually

What you will do

• Develop robust, efficient Linux-based software applications for secure systems.
• Design, implement, and debug TCP/UDP network socket programming solutions.
• Build system-level software primarily with Rust, or transition from C/C++ to Rust.
• Use Git and collaborate across teams to integrate software into broader technology stacks.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, with degree-dependent ranges for BS, MS, and PhD candidates.
• Strong experience with Linux software development and debugging.
• Proficiency in Rust, or C/C++ experience with willingness to learn Rust.
• Hands-on experience with TCP/UDP server and client architecture, plus version control systems such as Git.
• Minimum DoD Secret security clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with asynchronous programming and concurrency models.
• Knowledge of memory management, threading, and inter-process communication.
• Interest in systems-level programming and Rust’s benefits for system development.
