PHP Engineer (Fintech): Building and integrating APIs for customer journeys while optimizing lending platforms with an accent on modern PHP, Symfony, and automated testing. Focus on designing scalable financial systems, working with message-driven and event-sourced architectures, and deploying reliable services across AWS, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid. Work from home is available on Mondays and Fridays, with office attendance expected on other weekdays.

What you will do
- Build and integrate APIs that improve the customer journey.
- Optimize lending platforms and contribute to architectural discussions.
- Develop and maintain backend services using PHP and Symfony.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, functional, and Behat tests.
- Collaborate with backend, frontend, mobile, and platform engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with PHP.
- Modern PHP development experience; PHP 8.0+ is required.
- Strong understanding of Symfony.
- High ownership, autonomy, and business-oriented engineering judgment.
- Strong automated testing skills with unit, integration, functional, and Behat testing.
- Experience with PHP, AWS, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, PHPUnit, and Behat.
Nice to have
- Experience with Domain-Driven Design, message-driven systems, or event sourcing.
- Experience working on financial systems.
- Interest in learning and contributing to a highly collaborative team.
