Technical Support Specialist – Systems (Molecular Diagnostics)

Location: Milan, Italy; remote work from home with on-site customer visits as needed and up to 15% travel in Europe

Gross annual salary: €40,900–€55,500; 10% target annual bonus

What you will do

• Provide advanced technical support by phone, email, and web for molecular diagnostic instrumentation, including hardware, software, and connectivity.
• Collect and document customer complaint information, perform root cause analysis, and replicate instrument issues where possible.
• Conduct data analysis and systematic troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical, electronic, firmware, software, and networking failures.
• Prioritize critical cases and restore system uptime for customers and patient testing, including support during on-site customer visits.
• Update knowledge bases, share technical expertise, mentor less-experienced colleagues, and support team training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, electronics, biomedical engineering, life sciences, clinical laboratory science, laboratory technology, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in healthcare, biomedical technology, or medical devices, with knowledge of the diagnostic market.
• Experience supporting medical devices, diagnostic instrumentation, laboratory systems, or clinical laboratory environments.
• Familiarity with molecular diagnostics and clinical or research laboratory workflows.
• Expertise troubleshooting complex laboratory instrument hardware and software in a regulated medical device or diagnostics environment.
• Proficiency with Windows systems, LIS integration, and basic networking protocols used in laboratory or hospital settings.

Nice to have

• Experience with CRM or complaint-handling systems such as Salesforce for technical support case management.
