Photographer/Editor (News ENG)

Location: CA-San Diego; 4575 Viewridge Ave (Nexstar - KUSI & KSWB); onsite

Salary: $24 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level

What you will do

• Shoot high-quality video and capture natural sound for daily news, breaking news, live coverage, and special projects.
• Collaborate with reporters and producers to plan visual coverage, develop story ideas, and gather complete and accurate footage.
• Edit video for newscasts and digital platforms using Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Set up and operate microwave, satellite, and bonded cellular systems for live shots and video feeds.
• Communicate developments from the field to the assignment desk and newsroom, and troubleshoot technical issues during broadcasts.
• Maintain cameras, field equipment, vehicles, footage archives, logs, and required paperwork.

Requirements

• At least three years of professional news camera experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional proficiency with ENG field cameras, live trucks, field editing systems, and related equipment.
• Experience editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record; regular driving of a news vehicle is required.
• Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight assignments, travel outside the San Diego market, and changing breaking-news schedules.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment and make sound decisions under pressure.

Nice to have

• FAA Part 107 Drone License.
